Beautiful Malayalam movie “Aduthaduthu” (1984) directed by Sathyan Anthikad and starring Thilakan, Janardanan Nair, Rahman, Ahalya, Bahadoor, Bharath Gopy etc.

Its a beautiful story of two very close friends who share much love and warmth with each other and who grew up together and become prosperous and who become staunch enemies on mere conjecture and gossip and judgment.

Thilakan (Thankappan) and Janardanan Nair (Ayyappan) are close friends with their wives KPAC Lalitha and Sukumari respectively and their kids Rahman and Ahalya (Raju and Radha respectively). Raju and Radha love separately and baulk at the thought that their parents are trying to get them married.

They hitch a plan to create dissensions between the two close friends and for that purpose, they employ an actress to create a fictional romance and it becomes so successful that both friends and their respective wives come at each other’s throat.

In the meanwhile both Raju and Radha realise that their separate love affairs has become a flop so now they want to unite to become married, but now the parents are against it totally. Hajiyar (Bahadoor in a super role) and Bharath Gopy as the priest try to reconcile the matters between the two warring families.

Brilliant script with super dialogues peppered with humorous scenes, magnificent acting by Thilakan, Bahadoor, Janardanam Nair, KPAC Lalitha, Sukumari, Bharath Gopy, melodious music and songs sung by KJ Yesudas in a masterful voice. All point to a rip roaring comedy of sorts, brilliantly directed by Sathyan Anthikad. IMDB 7/10
