Quaint, interesting and award winning movie “Montegnegro” (1981) directed by Dusan Makavejev and starring Susan Anspach, Erland Josephson, Marianna Jacobi, Svetozar Cvetkovic among others.

Marilyn Jordan (Susan Anspach) is a housewife with two kids and a husband Martin Jordan (Erland Josephson) who is always travelling. She wants the love and affection but does not get it.

Once she decides to accompany her husband on a trip but is detained by airport security for carrying a garden shear. She is extensively searched but found nothing on her. She misses her plane and comes across a young lady who is taken away by her Yugoslav handlers.

Marilyn goes along with them to a Zanzi bar where there is drinking, strip tease et al. Marilyn indulges in love and sex with a young stud Montenegro (Svetozar Cvetkovic). Marilyn returns home to her husband and family and in the last scene she is shown feeding fruits which are apparently poisoned as per the teaser. But there is no last last scene.

Susan Anspach has done a remarkable job as an independent free loving woman, her both kids Marianna Jacobi and Jamie Marsh are adorable. The story borders on black comedy with a captivating music in the background. Good movie to watch. IMDB 5/10
