A rip roaring Malayalam comedy movie “Nadodikkattu” (1987), directed by Sathyan Anthikad and starring Mohanlal, Sreenivasan, Shobana, Thilakan among others.

Typical of the movies made in the 1980s relating to unemployment, poverty, joblessness among the youth, their helplessness, charlatans etc. Brilliant story line, very strong script, super acting by Mohanlal, Sreenivasan, Shobana, Thilakan Mamukoya has made this a landmark movie in Malayalam cinema.

Mohanlal and his friend Sreenivasan are unemployed young people with no hopes of finding a job in their home town. They are cheated by a charlatan promising to land them jobs in the Gulf, but they end up in Madras. They are discovered as CIDs by a smuggler Thilakan and end up in quite a few situations not of their own making.

There’s lot of pathos to the story along with frustration, parody of the brilliant kind of the Kerala society. Like “Jaane bhi do Yaaron”, this one is a timeless classic this one from Sathyan Anthikad, the master director of Malayalam cinema. IMDB 8/10
